TEAM CITY LIGHTS JUST THREW THE ULTIMATE ISLAND-THEMED GRAND OPENING PARTY
The wait is over at City Lights! After over a year of renovations to the clubhouse and pool, the time was right to invite residents to see their all-new amenity spaces. Rebuilt nearly from the ground up (the elevator, pool, foundation, and other infrastructure remained), the grand reopening showcased the success of Shea's vision for social, fitness, and workspaces that match the needs of modern life and for the aesthetic vibes of a Southern Californian beach-close community. In partnership with CDC Design, Shea's development and operations teams collaborated on open concept spaces that prioritized ease of use, social connection, and indoor-outdoor settings. The materials and color palette used in the interior design align with this vision, pairing natural stone, wood, and fibers with friendly neutrals and masterful pops of rich greens and deep onyx.
PASSPORT TO FUN
Say aloha to brand-new places to relax and activate vacation mode. The City Lights team greeted guests at the island-themed party with vibrant leis and a party passport. At stations throughout the grand opening layout, guests could get their passport stamped and completed for a branded City Lights swag bag. Stopping by the resident lounge meant grabbing a plate of food and a mocktail, plus earning your stamp. Other stations included a photo booth with branded step-and-repeat background and poolside dance party with live DJ.
A STUNNING TRANSFORMATION IS REVEALED
The new leasing office and amenities at City Lights gave residents lots of reasons to celebrate. On-site staff moved into their new leasing and operations setup several weeks before the grand opening. The reception and leasing spaces were designed around highly personalized, friendly customer service in an open, relaxed environment. We particularly love the high arched doorways and airy reception - which reminds us of a concierge at an island resort.
City Lights' transformed amenities include:
-
Ground level resident lounge with fireplace and full kitchen, opening onto a firepit with large group seating and strand lighting
-
Second floor cabana-style lounge with Saddleback and city lights views, and a game deck with billiards overlooking the pool
-
Two separate fitness centers for cardio and weight training, plus an outdoor deck for yoga overlooking the pool
-
Two co-workspaces with work pods and open seating, plus private areas that can be reserved, including a conference room and small group room
-
Pool and spa surrounded by cabanas, two-person cushioned chaise longues, poolside sofas and lounges with oversized umbrellas
-
Grilling deck with four-top tables and strand lighting

OVER 500 ATTENDEES (AND COUNTLESS PHOTO BOOTH PICS)
When the City Lights team set out to host a grand opening, they may not have imagined the number of people saving the date on their calendars. Invitations were emailed and announcement flyers posted, and on the day of the party, the City Lights team was prepped and waiting for guests to show up. And show up they did — in droves!
At one point, there was a line wrapped around the front of the clubhouse waiting to get in! The anticipation had been building for a while. One resident commented that he lives in a unit facing onto the pool and clubhouse and watched the renovation project with interest. In his opinion, he said that the entire process from demolition to grand opening went by fairly quickly and with no major inconveniences. Judging by the smiles on guests' faces and record turnout, the City Lights community was eager to see their new destination for relaxation and resident events.
